Northern Boden chose Aidon

Bodens Energi Nät has chosen Aidon as the provider of the company’s new metering system for electricity. The company will install near to 17,000 electricity new meters to its customers within the coming years.

With a contract signed in June, Bodens Energi Nät became the northernmost Swedish customer of Aidon so far. Bodens Energi Nät chose Aidon after a tender and a comprehensive evaluation process. As a result, the customer selected a reading system as a service hosted by Aidon, and Aidon 6000-series meters with RF communication technology. The hosted solution gives the customer the flexibility to start using the new system without setting up a system environment of their own, yet the possibility to deploy it later if desired.

The choice of the solution provider and the technology was based on a thorough evaluation by the customer’s team. The evaluation criteria consisted of pricing, functionality as well as demonstration of certain system functionalities which the customer had defined.

– Aidon’s offering presented a good balance in all three evaluation categories, yet the final decisive factor was the system demonstration, in which the Aidon solution’s usability was outperforming, says operations engineer Jonas Bergstedt from Bodens Energi Nät.

– We look forward to a new system that allows us and our customers to take advantage of new features. These include the possibility for customers to monitor their electricity consumption more closely via the meter interface, as well as the monitoring of electricity quality and the low-voltage network, which will shorten customers’ power outages, Jonas Bergstedt says.
