The first phase of AMR 2.0 project completed in Vantaa as planned

Vantaa Energy Electricity Networks and Aidon signed a contract for a new smart metering system in fall 2022. Almost exactly two years later, in October 2024, the parties signed off on the completion of the first phase of the project. The new metering platform with integrations is in use, and 55.000 new generation electricity meters have been installed for customers. In addition to the new meters and the installation work which was carried out by Eltel, the project included Aidon’s Gateware A3 head-end system as well as Aidon One field work management solution which was integrated with the installation partner’s work order management system.

– The project was very successful. We have acquired a new generation measurement system with new features. We are particularly pleased with the high quality of the meters’ mass replacement, which was completed without any work accidents and achieved high customer satisfaction. These are important matters for us, say Janne Hartikainen, Project Manager, and Arto Flink, Installation Manager, from Vantaa Energy Electricity Networks.”

Timo Räsänen, who was responsible for the project at Aidon, is satisfied with both the end result and the collaboration during the project.

– All in all, project goals were achieved as planned and on schedule. The quality of the installation of metering devices was a very high priority in the project, and it was monitored through weekly field visits and installation reports. During the project, fewer than ten quality deviations related to installations were recorded, which can be considered an excellent result. Special thanks to our installation partner Eltel. The total device base of 145,000 meters in Vantaa Energy Electricity Networks will be completely renewed when the second phase of the mass replacement project is implemented in the latter half of the decade.
