Major investment in the renewal of electricity metering system – Vantaa Energy Electricity Networks continues cooperation with Aidon
Vantaa Energy Electricity Networks Ltd and Aidon have signed an agreement on the renewal of the electricity metering system. The agreement includes a new metering head-end-system and the delivery and installation of a total of more than 180,000 smart energy metering devices over the next 10 years. The agreement is part of a public joint tendering process between nine Finnish city-owned electricity distribution network companies.
– Our cooperation began in 2010 with the procurement of the first-generation remote metering system. The contract for the purchase of a second-generation AMM system is the largest investment in our company’s history, and it extends our close partnership with Aidon well into the 2030s, says Risto Lappi, CEO of Vantaa Energy Electricity Networks Ltd.
The contact is significant also for Aidon.
– The continuation of the partnership between Aidon and Vantaa Energy across generations of remote reading systems is a proof of successful cooperation throughout the entire lifecycle of both the devices and the system platform. Our partnership has included a lot of co-creation as well. The shared vision of future needs and services provides an excellent starting point for a successful project, which benefits the entire customer base in Vantaa, says Tommi Blomberg, CEO of Aidon.
Aidon will supply Vantaa Energy Electricity Networks with a total of more than 180,000 next-generation electricity meters by the end of 2032. The project includes replacement of more than 80,000 devices as a mass roll-out, which is the responsibility of Eltel, Aidon’s installation partner. More than 90,000 devices will be replaced as lifecycle updates. The majority of the meters utilise radio-based RF mobile technology for connectivity, complemented by LTE-M / NB-IoT technology. In addition, Vantaa Energy makes extensive use of Aidon’s services, such as the Aidon One application for managing field work related to the distribution network, as well as device warehousing.
